Dr.
Jeff and his daughters, Danielle and Elyssa, participated in the Race for the
Cure, 5K run at Great Adventures in Jackson, NJ on Sunday, October 5, 2008 in
support of Dr. Jeff's patients with breast cancer. The Levine Family
raised over $500 to support breast cancer research and screening efforts.

This year’s third annual event held in September, featured
Jeff Levine, MD, associate professor, in the Departments of Family Medicine and
Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson
Medical School, who was a contestant on the hit television show “The Biggest
Loser” in 2005. Dr. Levine spoke to an audience of childhood cancer survivors,
their families and friends about the importance of adults promoting healthy
lifestyles to children by practicing what they teach.
The LITE Program, at The Cancer Institute of New Jersey,
provides long-term evaluation, support, and health education for the growing
population of childhood cancer survivors.

Dr.
Jeff made a return appearance on an episode of the 5th season of “The
Biggest Loser.” He spoke with the current remaining contestants about
“reality” after the show ends; in terms of the challenges they face. He
provided them with some practical strategies to maintain a healthy lifestyle
once they return to the “real world.”

Dr.
Jeff was the Keynote Speaker for the Gold Humanism in Medicine Honor Society
Induction Ceremony, Princeton, NJ, on March 19. 2008. Dr. Jeff spoke on
“Finding Balance in Humanism,” encouraging inductees to teach the GHHS ideals to
their future learners, while continuing to practice them everyday. However, he
also cautioned them to not neglect their own health or the needs of their loved
ones while in pursuit of helping others. Dr. Jeff was last year’s Faculty GHHS
Inductee and the recipient of the Leonard Tow Award for Humanism in Medicine.
Dr.
Levine gave a community presentation on, “How to Prevent a Broken Heart:
Promoting Healthy Lifestyles,” in Hillsborough, NJ, on February 20, 2008, as
part of the Mayor’s Campaign for Wellness, Women’s Heart Health Month. Dr.
Levine has been working with the Amercan Heart Association to address the
epidemic of childhood obesity in this country, in order to more effectively
prevent cardiovascular disease later in life.

Dr.
Jeff participated in the American Academy of Family Physicians’ Americans In
Motion (AAFP-AIM) Advisory Board Meeting in Kansas City, MO on January 16,
2008. AIM recently partnered with Americans’ On the Move (AOM) to develop
effective resources for primary care providers and their patients to address the
epidemic of Obesity in this country, and improve the overall fitness of
Americans.
